The ATE - Aliança para a Transição Energética (Alliance for the Energy Transition) is focused on strengthening the competitiveness and resilience of companies in the energy sector as a result of the creation of innovative and export-oriented products and solutions.

The development of this consortium, led by Efacec, is expected to create 420 jobs and generate a turnover of €550M/year, promoting the reduction of greenhouse gases (up to 3.4M tons of CO2) and developing a range of products, more than 80% of which are destined for export.

To this end, in October 2023, ATE (Alliance for the Energy Transition) and IAPMEI - Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, signed the terms of acceptance for a constellation of projects that drive development towards the energy transition and decarbonization. The consortium aims to capitalize on opportunities to create value in the context of Decarbonization, Decentralization and Digitalization of the Energy sector.

The Energy Transition Alliance structures its multiple projects into six vertical pillars, geared towards strategic competitiveness and value creation. It covers the energy sector across the board, including energy communities and micro-grids, renewable-based generation, energy efficiency and transition in industrial, commercial and residential users, sustainable mobility and interconnection and sector-coupling infrastructures, namely electricity and gas networks.

As a partner in the consortium, ARMIS will take part in the 'New generation of PAC (Protection, Automation and Control) solutions' Workpackage. With a great deal of know-how in the energy sector, ARMIS team will contribute to the development of virtual tools for testing IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices), namely for configuring and testing these equipment configurations, which will make it possible to reduce testing time in the field. In addition, ARMIS will develop a laboratory prototype for virtual IEDs (Digital TWINS), enabling the validation of programming, automation and protection in virtual copies of physical equipment.

ATE is part of the RNC2040 - Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality agenda and is made up of a network of 80 partners, mobilizing a total of 52 companies and 28 entities from the Research & Innovation System, led by Efacec.

In addition to the intrinsic value generated by the plan, ATE aims to lay the foundations for a long-term collaborative ecosystem, supported by digital, innovation and industrial platforms, boosting networked externalities. With an export target of more than 80% of the turnover generated, this new value offer will contribute to creating infrastructures that enable the reduction of emissions in the energy sector in Portugal and in multiple international geographies.
